Accept some honest wear.
A scuffed lid, a small dent, some wear on the bottom case — inside, that MacBook is the same as a cleaner one, for noticeably less, because most buyers shop with their eyes. A scratch has never slowed down a video export. Put a case on it and you'd never know.

If cosmetics matter to you, you still don't have to choose between “pristine” and “affordable.” A used MacBook in excellent condition costs dramatically less than retail, because the moment any laptop leaves the store it stops being new — even if it still looks it.

- 01Battery health. Look for the cycle count and a health percentage, not just “battery good.”
- 02Model and chip. Confirm exactly which MacBook and which M-series chip you're getting.
- 03Activation Lock. Make sure it's removed and the device is wiped clean. A reputable seller never bypasses it.
- 04Screen and ports. Check for dead pixels and that every port actually works.
- 05Warranty or returns. If the seller offers neither, walk away.
A refurbished MacBook is one that didn't become e-waste. Keeping a working machine in service a few more years means a smaller bill for you and a bit less in the landfill.

What do the grades mean?+
We grade overall condition from A+ (like new) down to D (salvage), based on the screen, body, keyboard, trackpad, battery, and function together. A lower grade means more visible wear and a lower price — not a machine that works any worse. Every grade clears the same functional inspection.
How long will a used MacBook last?+
A well-maintained Apple Silicon MacBook can serve you five to seven years. Battery health is the main thing to watch over time, which is why we publish it on every listing.
Used or refurbished — what's the difference?+
"Used" simply means previously owned. "Refurbished" means it has been inspected, cleaned, restored to full working order, and graded before resale. Everything we sell is the latter.
